Wakatobi - World Biosphere Reserve

Sea waters Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi, immediately set out to be World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. UNESCO plans to submit the charter to the Government of Wakatobi establishment in September 2011.

Determination Wakatobi as a World Biosphere Reserve because Wakatobi marine waters have a diversity of coral reefs are quite a lot. A total of 750 species from a total of 850 coral reefs in the world are in the underwater Wakatobi. In addition Wakatobi marine waters inhabited by various kinds of marine life including 942 species of fish.

"Other considerations are also encouraged UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve Wakatobi is the policy of the Government of Wakatobi which consistently implement conservation practices in managing coral reef preservation".
